Few cities in Europe have material remains that show continuity of existence from the 4th century B.C. until today. One such town is Krk, the central city of the golden island of Krk.
Despite its over 2500 years old history, Krk will not dazzle the visitor with magnificent palaces, amphitheatres and triumphal arches. In the spirit of modesty of the island, the city will gradually open up and skilfully enchant us so that its images will never leave our memory. A town with measure and abundance of history that is noticeable in its every street, palace, square... Krk has been one of the most significant tourist destinations on Kvarner for an entire century.
Krk cathedral and Frankopans citadel, re the most known town motives. Early Christian basilica, built in 5th century, is located on the spot where Roman spa were. During years that came, various styles were outlined on cathedral: roman, gothic, renaissance, baroque and modern age.
Every year Krk is the host of the historical-entertaining festivity known as Lovrečeva, held from 8th till 10th of August.
Untouched beaches on the southern part of the island, islet Košljun with a Franciscan monastery, holly-oak forests.

The Cathedral in Krk and the church of St. Kvirin, a unique architectural complex (12th – 14th century), Roman thermal baths, remains of three walls, numerous city palaces, the Frankopan castle, convents of the Benedictines and the Franciscans in the city and on Košljun, defensive towers... Rich ethnological heritage.
The wine on the island is žlahtina that is grown on the nearby Vrbnik field. In the rich offer of the Mediterranean cuisine, some authentic specialities from Krk (šurlice - home made pasta) have a special place, just like olive oil, which is in abundance on the island and is one of the best on the Mediterranean.
