Carnival traditions of Novi Vinodolski became a cultural heritage

The Croatian Ministry of Culture declared the carnival traditions of Novi Vinodolski intangible cultural heritage and as such protected them from oblivion.

The initiative was started by the Department of Čakavski dialect Parliament "Novljansko kolo" and its president Branko Blazevic. This great honor will encourage further organize and preserve the traditions of New Vinodolski. Also, this is a tribute and thanks to the many generations who have built in the tradition of the carnival with their love, loyalty and hard work.

The residents will soon submit a request to the UNESCO regarding the carnival folk customs, dance, and “Novljansko kolo”, domestic epic song and carnival music "Zoga" becoming a protected intangible cultural Croatian heritage.
